First

Hi!  My name is Amanda Ernstberger and I am the First Grade Teacher at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic School.  This is my fifth year teaching and I feel truly blessed to be a part of such a great school!  My first year at SMK I taught Pre-Kindergarten.  I was given the opportunity to move up to first grade and this will be my fourth year teaching First Grade.  I love teaching First Grade because I get to share my love of reading with my students!

My undergraduate work was completed at Hanover College in 2008.  While at Hanover I studied Elementary Education and Psychology.  I just recently graduated in May 2012 with my Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University Southeast.  I look forward to using my new knowledge and experience in my own classroom.

I currently live in New Albany and have been a life long member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.  Catholic education and my faith are very important to me.  I am a product of 9 years of Catholic elementary school (OLPH) and 4 years of Catholic high school (Providence).  One of my favorite parts of my job here at SMK is helping the students grow in their faith.

I believe the purpose of education is to help students learn and grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  Young children have so much energy and enthusiasm for life and learning and I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with them each day.  First Grade is a big year for growth and development.  I look forward to helping your child learn to read, become more independent, and have some fun learning along the way!
