Norma Rodriguez

My name is Norma Rodriguez, I am the Spanish teacher at Saint Mary of the Knobs, Catholic School. I am from Northern Mexico and I live in Floyd Knobs, Indiana, with my husband Rick, my kids Danya, Gabrielle and Alex, and our dog Tebow.
Thankfully,I have been teaching Spanish over the past three years at Saint Mary of the Knobs and also two years at Notre Dame Academy. I also worked in Mexico for the education system, teaching Spanish and Math.
I am very excited about this new school year, I have been plannig new and interesting lessons for my students. I am also launching a new program called SEALS, designed to study and practice Spanish at home in which I hope the whole school community will be involved.
In my class, students will experience different types of learning activities, games and their own creativity to learn and reinforce their Spanish vocabulary and communication skills. They will also learn about the culture, traditions and celebrations from Spanish speaking countries.
I invite you all to be positive and supportive in order to make our kids succeed in this exciting adventure of learning a new language.
I'll see you soon and welcome back to my class!!!!

by Norma RodriguezDear Parents Please help your child to practice Spanish at home. He or she will receive a different chart every week with new expressions or phrases in Spanish. You will need to have a dry marker available to post the chart and check mark every time your child says the phrases, addin up for the final score. This will be consider part of his/her grade, besides homework and participation in class. For grades 5th and 6th, we will also have quizzes.
