Lunch/Recess Program
Dear Families,
As you know, one of the hallmarks of Catholic schools is excellent parent participation and support. St. Mary of the
During the lunch/recess period, we are in need of the help of 3 volunteers for a short time each day. Therefore, we are again requiring every Kindergarten-Grade 6 family to work in the cafeteria four days (from 11:45 AM-12:45 PM) per school year. At Registration, you will indicate the dates that you (or a family member in your place—spouse, aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc.) will volunteer. Please have more than 4 dates, as your first choices may not be available. Cafeteria personnel will be at Registration to confirm these dates with you. If your schedule allows, we’d love to have extra folks on our substitute list for 2012-13, too.
The price of the school lunch with milk is $2.50 per day for students, $3.00 for adults and .35 for milk or orange juice only. Menus are sent home at the end of each month and are on our website, so you will be aware of what is being served on a daily basis for the next month. You will find the August menu here in your packet
The lunches we serve are in compliance with government requirements for a Class A lunch program and meet our State/Archdiocesan Wellness Policy. We also participate in the government food subsidy program. Our Cafeteria Staff is Carol Sims and Nancy Dunaway. They plan the meals and menu, order and prepare the food, record purchases and student/staff accounts and work with the administration to maintain a high-quality cafeteria program.
We will again be using our Meal Tracker software program to record lunches and milk/orange drink purchases. Families will open each child’s cafeteria account with $50. Since students deplete monies from their lunch account at different rates, you will receive an invoice noting when your cafeteria account falls below $10 to replenish this fund.
Your cooperation helps our cafeteria operate efficiently and allows us to maintain the current price of lunches. Thank you in advance for taking your turn in the cafeteria or for securing a substitute when conflicts arise. We can do great things for our kids when we work together!
