St. Mary of the Knobs is driven by its mission to meet the individual needs of every student, and this is reflected in the curriculum design. The teachers create curriculum maps, but modify these living documents in order to best meet the pace and content appropriate for the students they serve. The curriculum is aligned to the Indiana state standards, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis standards, and the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools. The classroom practices reflect our values and beliefs. Teachers strive to provide challenging and rigorous instruction that incorporates real-life application, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. This approach keeps engagement alive in every subject, and at every level. SMKCS also has additional experiences that are unique to each grade level. Students are primarily assessed through Acadience and other diagnostic assessments. In addition to this, a variety of formative assessments are continually conducted throughout the year within the classrooms.
