The use of technology at SMKCS allows educators to remove the physical barriers of the classroom and enhance the overall learning experience. One-to-one technology is utilized in grades 3-8 with K-2 students having access to sets of Chromebooks when needed. All classrooms are equipped with interactive digital Viewboards for versatile instruction. Digital learning fosters student engagement and connects learning to the real world. Teachers work to differentiate instruction and monitor student progress using tools such as i-Ready individualized learning paths, IXL, and other digital curriculums. Google Workspace for Education enables seamless collaboration, allowing teachers to work productively, and students to experience a multitude of platforms. To ensure a safe and focused digital learning environment, many teachers utilize the Goguardian application, allowing students' Chromebooks to be monitored in real-time. Instant feedback is provided and potential distractions or dangers are addressed. Responsible technology use is promoted and used to enhance academic productivity. While educating students to be responsible digital citizens is critical, exposure to a more traditional library experience also has value. All students in preschool through fourth grade visit the school library weekly. They hear stories read aloud, check out books, and develop a deeper love of literature and learning through various activities. Students in upper grades check out books from shared classroom libraries.
